To outline my story, and why I am collecting for and indeed Running this 1/2 marathon...

I can't begin to thank North Devon Hospice enough for the wonderful care they gave to my Dad and the time they spent with all of the family at the end of last year.

 

They are such a wonderful organisation who offer a type of unriveled care for terminally ill patients and their familys.

 

Driving down the Motorway to Devon on a snowy Christmas Eve, having to leave my young family in Birmingham, after finding out that my dad had been taken into the hospice, I can't begin to tell you what was going through my mind. Needless to say the picture I had in my head of what I was to expect when I was to arrive couldn't have been any more different.

 

The warm and Calm atmosphere that I walked into was so wonderful.  The staff were so patient and reassuring. The individual rooms for patients and the setting couldn't have been nicer and offered so much dignety to my dad, other patients and their support groups.

 

We actually had xmas dinner there as a family, cooked by the staff, and I have to say, it will be a memory that will stick with me for life.  What, I think we all, were expecting to be a sad day, was a real celebration of family time together. (and superb food too!)

 

When Dad Passed away just before new years eve, the warmth of support was uncomparable. They help you with the things you need to do and sort, and continue to support you for as long as you need it.
