Peaky Climbers - Three Peaks Challenge · 25 June 2022

We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research and to raise awareness.

Story

I'm taking on the Three Peaks Challenge!  In one 24 hour period I will be climbing the three highest peaks in Great Britain, Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis.

I'm fundraising for Crohn's & Colitis UK.  I was inspired to raise funds for this charity because I have friends that live with Crohn's and have seen the impact this terrible disease has on their lives.

With her permission, here is one story...

Elley's Story

Elley Woolf is a community artist who creates art about identity and disability, often inspired by her own experiences.

She was diagnosed with Crohn's disease aged 15, when it first began to impact her health. Since then she has continued to manage the highs and lows of having an autoimmune disease, trying to live as vibrant life as possible alongside a debilitating illness.

In 2019 Elley underwent three emergency bowel surgeries, complicated by peritonitis and sepsis. Having survived through a pretty tough time, she is now more determined than ever to live a full and colourful life, grateful for modern medicine that makes her disease bearable.

She uses art as a way to process her Crohn's, turning trauma into empowerment.
