Story
Why on earth am I running The London Marathon? (I know, I know!)
I never enjoyed running but since joining park run few years ago, I find myself running more than usual and one day someone asked if I could do London Marathon – without realizing I was agreeing to it and said “why not?”
Knowing me, I soon I regretted the words that came out of my mouth but I was sure up for a challenge. It is something I never imagined doing, I have never ran a marathon before.
The London Marathon is one of the world’s biggest running events and I’m going to join thousands of other runners doing something I never thought possible. And for a good cause.
I am looking forward to achieving this as it's an extremely daunting task but highly motivating at the same time – does that make sense?!
Why have I chosen to run for SignHealth?
We are all raising money for SignHealth because we believe in their mission of improving the health and well-being of Deaf people. SignHealth has been supporting the Deaf community for over 35 years and provide fantastic BSL (British Sign Language) services within Psychological Therapies, Domestic Abuse and Social Care.
The journey
The first few months were challenging but I have gradually grown stronger. I no longer feel the constant urge to stop and give up, with the support of my friends – I keep going. I feel resilient, physically and mentally. It's going to be a big challenge to achieve the 26.2 miles and I will be training hard over the next four months to achieve this goal.
We still need your help – with funds and donations no matter how big or small, YOU will make a difference to Deaf people lives.
