Covid-19 has put a hold on everything from weddings and holidays to restaurants and parties, we wish we could put a hold on terminal illnesses but unfortunately we can’t.
We want to raise awareness of the Marie Curie Charity as we feel there is not enough publicity for the amazing work that they do. Marie Curie urgently need your help to be able to continue their work.
The pandemic has made it extremely difficult for Marie Curie to raise money, fundraisers have been cancelled and charity shops have closed. Without your donations and support, care and support for individuals and their families living with terminal illnesses would not be possible.
Who is Marie Curie?
- Marie Curie was born in Warsaw Poland.
- She is the first woman to win a Nobel prize and to this date, the only person to win a Nobel prize in two different science fields.
- Marie Curie was a WW1 hero, she developed mobile radiography units by outfitting cars with x-ray equipment and generators to help wounded soldiers.
What does the Marie Curie Charity do?
- They provide support for families of those with terminal illnesses.
- Provide around the clock care for people living with terminal illnesses
- Their Hospices provide specialist care
- They support everyone in the UK through all aspects of dying, death and bereavement.
- They fight for society, where everyone can lead the best life they can until the end.
Facts about Marie Curie Charity
- Only 1 third of Marie Curie’s funding is provided by the NHS, the remaining 2 thirds are funded by supporters, companies and trusts.
- Without supporters and donations Marie Curie would not be able to provide vital support and care for people who need them.
- The yellow daffodil symbolises new beginnings and rebirth.
