Sat in a warm cafe with my cycling buddies following a Saturday morning ride, somebody mentioned what a good idea it would be to enter Cyclone 24. Between mouthfuls of cake and coffee I spluttered 'but I have never been on the track' - this was met with derision and shouts of 'you will be ok Robbo'. This was seen as my acceptance of the challenge by my fellow competitors. So, four weeks before my 69th birthday I will be attempting this challenge, hopefully cheered on by fellow riders and supporters.

As many of my friends are aware I was diagnosed 8 years ago with CLL, a form of blood cancer. This was devastating news at the time, however,  as time has progressed I now count myself as being fortunate, as so far, I have not needed to receive any treatment. Whilst I can never be cured of the condition I am still on a 'watch and wait' regime with regular hospital check-ups to monitor my blood. This allows me to continue to keep fit through cycling and raise money for Bloodwise that allows continued research into finding a cure for all blood cancers.
