Story
My Mom was diagnosed with bowel cancer Christmas 2008, the tumour the size of a tennis ball was removed together with most of her large intestine the following spring 09. Prior to the operation, she couldn't eat or drink because of the blockage the tumour was causing.
She fought cancer for 2 long, long years, during which she spent time between 3 courses of kemotherapy at the day centre at Mary Stevens pallitive care hospice and after tests revealed the cancer had spread to her liver and lungs June 11, it was there where she passed away in peace, August 2011.
My mom was a fighter and a lesser person would have given in long before she did. By doing this marathon - l can be respectful to my mom's memory as it is going to be a tough event that only those who fight will complete
I want to raise money & awareness for the hospice, the paid staff and volunteers who looked after my mom in her final days in such a caring & professional manner
