Story

Hello there. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

My Story.......

Those of you that know me may be aware that I suffer from a medical condition known as Hyperhidrosis. Eh? What's Hyperhidrosis? Well, it's extreme sweating that can affect many different parts of the body. No one really knows how it develops - just that the sympathetic nervous system is overly sensitive. In extreme cases, it can make a sufferers life unbearable; some to such an extent that they no longer leave their own homes & become agoraphobic. It can be a very debilitating condition & although it is not life threatening health-wise, it can cause severe emotional difficulties leading to lack of self confidence, low self esteem, anxiety & depression.

I suffer from the condition myself, mostly on my face in particular & also on my back, chest & legs. For many years it is a condition which I have tried to confront and deal with. It controls my life to a certain degree as it affects what I think I can do in every day life. It's difficult to explain but if you can picture sweating like crazy after exercising, well, that's the amount of sweat I can produce at any moment in all sorts of environments as it's almost uncontrollable. Sometimes, my face feels like there's a waterfall cascading from my forehead which can be incredibly embarrassing, especially when talking to another person. It's a lovely picture, I know.....

And this is the reason I am doing the Walk For Skin, errrrr, walk. In Southampton Country Park on June 6th. To help raise awareness of the condition and also to help financially towards the Hyperhidrosis Support Group in the UK. The fantastic people that run this organistaion do so for free, using their own personal time to help people afflicted with the condition. That's why I want to do my bit as the support group really helped me.  I know how much it has affected not only myself but also my relationships and well, just my life in general. And the many lives of others that suffer from the condition.

So please, it would mean so much to me if you could help & donate any amount, no matter what. A lot of other skin conditions are well known and supported but unfortunately, Hyperhidrosis isn't one of them & doesn't receive as much money/financial backing as a consequence. If you want to know more about the condition, please check out this link http://www.hyperhidrosisuk.org/

If you can help make someone's life more manageable then I could not honestly thank you enough.

Thank you for taking the time to read and if you've pledged any money then many, many thanks. It really will make a difference & is very much appreciated.

Take care, all the best and thanks again.
