In memory of Abigail Edie Leyland
Trisomy Awareness Month
Campaign by SOFT UK (RCN 1002918)
Trisomy Awareness Month gives us all a chance to spread the word and raise awareness about something so close to our hearts. This month, we want to come together and make our voices heard.

Story

On 3rd April 2021, my beautiful Goddaughter Abigail Edie Leyland was born. She was first described to me by her Mam as, “settled and fighting strong.”

On 9th April 2021, I was given the news that Abigail had Patau Syndrome, also known as Trisonomy 13 (https://www.soft.org.uk/about-trisomy). Our little fighter joined the angels on 19th April 2021.

Abigail was our little fighter throughout and every time I see a pink daisy, or hear her song, ‘Tale as Old as Time,’ I think of her. I am so proud to call her my Goddaughter and her parents, Chloe and Tom, have inspired me with their strength and resilience.

To honour the month Abigail would be 1 years old, I am completing the Lake District 5 Peaks Challenge on Saturday 23rd April. I want to raise awareness of Patau Syndrome but also raise money for the incredible work SOFT UK do to support families impacted by this heartbreaking condition.

I trek for Abigail.

I trek for Abigail’s brother Thomas (my other beautiful Godchild).

I trek for Chloe and her incredible family.

I trek for SOFT UK.

With love.

I am grateful for any donations given to support my fundraising.

Thank you xxx

SOFT UK was founded in 1990 by Christine Rose and Jenny Robbins. As mothers, they were unfortunate enough to discover first-hand the lack of support and information available to families affected by Patau’s syndrome (Trisomy 13), Edwards’ syndrome (Trisomy 18) and related disorders.
