Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I decided to raise funds in aid of The Frank Bruno Foundation, which delivers structured, non-contact boxing sessions and well-being programmes for people experiencing mental health problems. Coaches and volunteers at the FBF put the 'healthy mind in a healthy
body' approach into practice.  Anyone attending their boxing sessions can boost their fitness level and confidence, as well as enhance social skills, which often translates into improved mental health wellbeing.

I attended my first session at the FBF just over a year ago and I can clearly see the difference, that our weekly boxing sessions make to my physical fitness, and they also allow me to maintain good mental health hygiene. In addition to these significant health benefits, I get to socialize at the boxing gym with some great people, who often face similar, personal difficulties.

My challenge for this year is to make my first solo parachute
jump. First though, I will have to complete a ground course booked for the 21st April 2023. After completing the course and an assessment,
I will board the airplane and at approximately 13,000ft I will (hopefully) jump out, simultaneously with 2 skydiving instructors, who initially will be holding on to me whilst giving me instructions. I will be freefalling for about 50 seconds and then I will deploy my parachute. After five minutes of gliding down, I will land, all being well in a dignified manner, in the drop zone. Last year, I completed my first and only tandem parachute jump, where I was attached with a harness to a skydiving instructor. When we landed, I decided then and there, that next time
I would take it one step further and start the Accelerated Freefall Course, which upon successful completion would allow me to become the Category 8 Qualified Solo Skydiver !!!

Please give generously and wish me luck on the day ;-)
