Story
Hello! We are delighted (and slightly terrified) to announce that we will be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon on 3rd April. This will be our first ever half marathon and we are excited to be part of a great team running this race for a charity very close to our hearts.
The Goed Life was set-up by one of our closest friends, Ned Goedhuis to support his wonderful brother (and another very close friend of ours!) Sam, who has Down's Syndrome.
The Goed Life seeks to support and equip people with learning disabilities like Sam's with the tools, skills and opportunities needed to find meaningful work by facilitating training and partnering with key employers. It also provides funding for projects, initiatives, supported internships and other charities working for the same cause. In light of the events in Ukraine, the Goed Life has decided to donate 50% of the funding raised for this event to Inclusion Europe, which supports people with learning disabilities fleeing the country.
We are absolutely thrilled that 5 runners with learning disabilities are joining our team of 25 on the day. Sebastian, Danielle, Daarek, Michael and Alan have been training hard and looking forward to showing us just what they are capable of.
This is of course about much more than running marathons though. As it stands, 94% of people with learning disabilities are unemployed. We are running to change this statistic and empower diversity and inclusion!
We thank you for all of your support – it means the world!
