The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.

Story

Pontypool RFC is pleased to announce the launch of its ‘Name a Puppy’ programme in association with Guide Dogs Cymru – Pontypool RFC’s ‘Official Charity’ for the 2013/2014 season.

The objective of the ‘Name a Puppy’ programme is simple – to raise £5,000 before the conclusion of this season to enable the breeding and puppy walking of a guide dog puppy.

The guide dog service transforms the lives of around 4,500 blind and partially sighted people in the UK every year, but it receives no government funding.

If £5,000 can be raised, a competition will be launched that will offer Pontypool RFC supporters the chance to choose the name of the guide dog puppy. A dedicated portion of the official Pontypool RFC website will also feature a variety of updates and photos of the guide dog puppy to highlight the difference contributions are making to the community.

This is a fantastic opportunity for Pontypool RFC to support the local community and the club is kindly asking for your support.

Whether you are a Pontypool RFC supporter or are simply interested in contributing to the ‘Name a Puppy’ initiative, anybody can fundraise for this great cause.

Pontypool RFC and Guide Dogs Cymru thank you for your support, and for helping us reach our £5,000 target.
