Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Many of you have supported us in the past with our fund raising ventures for NASS. Small charities are in constant need of funds to provide the service to people who suffer from debilitating diseases like Ankylosing Spondylitis.
As many of you know my eldest son Alex passed away on November 14th, 2016. To say we have been devastated is an understatement and the grief is unbearable. 2yrs ago myself, Alex, Matt, Beth and Ellie swam a mile in the Serpentine and thanks to all our friends and families generous donations, raised over £1800 for NASS.
NASS is fighting to improve treatment and care to help people with AS take control of their lives. And with your support, they are funding research to help beat AS.They provide support, advice and information to people with AS. They are committed to keeping people as informed as possible. They believe that people who understand their AS and how it should be managed will have the best possible outcome.
Matt, Beth and I have decided to take on this challenge again in memory of Alex's life combining it with raising more funds for NASS. Like me, Alex suffered from the condition as does Matt. We as a family live with constant pain that has to be well managed through medication, exercise, physio and regular care from a Rheumatologist. NASS has been a great support to us as a family and we would like to make sure it can continue to help others.
AS is an autoimmune disease which is a type of arthritis in which there is long term inflammation of the joints of the spine.Typically the joints where the spine joins the pelvis are affected.
Every donation counts and we are eternally grateful for your support.
