Like many children, Joel always dreamed of playing baseball and learning karate, two activities that required strong legs and upper body strength. Due to his spina-bifida diagnosis Joel had neither, but he wasn't going to let that stop him. His dreams revolve around one of his favorite sports, baseball. Currently, he is working towards walking the distance around the bases without stopping and strengthening his core muscles by pitching and catching the ball. As Joel continues to grow, it is getting harder for his muscles to support his weight when walking, and although he relies on his wheelchair to get around, he isn't giving up.
