Story

40 for 40 started as an attempt to manage my cocoa habit and make a bit of cash for Harrison's Fund: £0.40 to the charity each day, for every day of Lent.

My inspirational friend Klara Cecmanova received the devastating news that both her sons had the cruel, life-limiting condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy just 18 months ago.  Since the diagnosis, she has fought tirelessly with her husband Nick Taussig to give Theodor (at school with Abigail) and Oskar (playmate of Felicity, together in the picture) the best lives possible.  You can read much about their journey online.  The physical differences between the boys and their peers become more visible week on week; Theodor, aged 4, now has a blue badge for the car.  But the battle is just beginning.  With targeted funding for research, we believe that this wasteful, wasting disease can be beaten.

Thanks to the generosity of good friends offering to join in, donate or sponsor, 40 for 40 now aims to raise £10 per day for the duration of Lent.  Which has ruined what was admittedly a poor play on words to begin with.  At least it's for a good cause.

Please support our fight against Duchenne however you can and if you can think of anything you can do to take part in Blue Hair Day on Sunday 26 June (cake sale at school ,  wigs at work) do let me know!  Thank you so much xxx
