Story

Your opportunity to win 2 tickets to the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2020 including 2 Rally Car Rides in the RAF Lightning Rally Team Subaru.

Earlier this year the RAF Lightning Rally Team met with Michael, a terminally ill 15 year old young man at Addenbrookes Hospital near Cambridge. Michael loved fast cars and tanks and the team at the hospital had arranged for a variety of vehicles to pay a surprise visit to Michael.

The short time we spent with Michael was very special. I was able to let
Michael sit in the Rally Car and rev the engine. I will never forget the smile on his face as he made some noise, it was incredible to see him enjoying himself like any other teenager despite his terminal illness. It was an exceptionally moving day for everyone involved, one of the most humbling experiences of my life.

Michael sadly passed away shortly after our visit.

At the request of Michael’s parents and with sensitive and caring planning the Rally Car and one military re-enactment vehicle escorted Michael’s funeral procession on his final journey.

By kind permission of Michael's parents, Karl & Laura, Rally GB will see
the Team not only carry a tribute to Michael on the car but also aim to raise money for a charity that assisted Michael and his family through this devastating time.

Therefore each donation of £10 or more will allow one guess at the amount of fuel that the RAF Lightning Rally Team’s Subaru will use in this year’s Rally GB.

If the competition is not for you please could you donate any sum it really does make a difference!

The person with the closest guess (to the ¼ litre) will receive two tickets to the 2020 Goodwood Festival of Speed plus be given the opportunity to go around the Rally Stage in the Subaru at competitive speed. In the result of more than one correct guess a name will be drawn at random from the correct guesses.

Total mileage for Rally GB will be 459.95 miles. Fuel used will also be
recorded in the event of non-completion of the Rally.

We would like to raise more than £1000 for The Sick Children’s Trust (reg charity 284416) which will help to fund the specialist Bedroom 9 on the ward at Addenbrookes Hospital where Michael spent his last days with the utmost dignity while receiving care and support – a truly courageous & inspirational young man and family.

Please donate with a numbered guess to this Just giving page. Eg - Mr Smith 999
litres.....

Journey"  on Facebook.

Thank you – from all at the RAF Lightning Rally Team.

You must be aged 18 or over to enter. The experience ride around the Rally Stage is subject to health and age restrictions. Entries close on 3rd Oct 2019 and the winner(s) will be announced 7 Oct 2019.
