Story
Andy, Mark and Glynn are Driving a 39 year old car 2000
miles in 48 hours
This may sound like a crazy idea but it is for Charity. Andy Cook, Mark Smith and Glynn Davis will be taking part in the Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run in October 2018 using Andy's 1979 Triumph Dolomite. This charity fund raising event which has been held bi-annually since 1966 starts and ends in Hertfordshire on a trip around the British mainland on a route via John O'Groats and Lands End. In order to qualify for a successful completion the entrants need to visit 18 pre-arranged check points within 48 hours, a distance of around 2,000 miles. Sponsorship for this event is donated to a different chosen charity each year. All entrants fund the expenses for the journey and entry fee out of their own pockets ensuring that all sponsorship funds are donated to the charity.
This year 140 Classic Triumph cars will attempt the journey and will be raising money for the charity “Epilepsy Research UK”. This is a particulary relevant charity as one of our Triumph freinds, Martin Randle lost his life at far too young an age through Epilepsy last year. Over the years Club Triumph have raised over £600,000 for various charities through this event and the target is to raise more than £65,000 so if you are willing to sponsor Andy, Mark or Glynn it would be really appreciated.
This is the 7th time Andy has entered this event , the 2nd
time for Mark and 3rd time for Glynn. Andy & Glynn have teamed up for this event previously in 2014 and 2016 in Andy’s Triumph Dolomite 1500HL known affectionately as “The Flying Log”.
Andy Mark and Glynn are all nuts about Triumph cars, Andy
also owns a Triumph GT6, Glynn owns 2 Spitfires and a Dolomite Sprint, Mark owns a GT6, a Vitesse and a 2.5L GT6/Spitfire hybrid (which he calls his GitFire)
