"Aim for the moon: even if you miss you'll still land amongh the stars!"
Dear all!
As the day approaches, I keep thinking about the actual race, how it will effect me and whether I will really beat my pb by that much to jump the magic 4hours. I believe that if you don't put yourself on the line and give it your best shot, you will never know how much you can really achieve.
I'm looking back on the practice I have done the past few months and realize how important my running and volleyball and sport in general is in my life. It doesn't matter at which level you run/play, although I always try to get better and better, but it teaches us at any level. Sport taught me about myself, my strengths and weaknesses. I have met so many different, interesting people all the way along and it has shown me the value of getting along with people, the results that can be achieved through teamwork and all the fun that comes from it. I think that without sport, I wouldn't be the person I am today.
I also believe that I am extremely lucky in being able to run, to play volleyball, to go climbing (my new hobby ;) and all the activities I love to do and I sometimes take it for granted. I would like to use this privilege to run for charity. Running events provide a great way to raise sponsorship and so I decided to support the charity ActionAid through taking part in the Cologne Marathon. ActionAid is one of the UK's largest international development organisations, helping poor people world wide, committed to working for a world without poverty in which every person can exercise their right to a life of dignity.
There's no question - it's worth it. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ActionAid will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many many thanks in advance for your generous help and support!
Take care,
Eva
