Story

Hi all - just to let you know that this page will be closing on February 12th, your support has been amazing and we really hope you managed to access the funeral on line, it was extremely "Holland" and mother was delighted that so many people have been in touch and supported us.

Dad/ Alan Edward Holland died on Christmas Eve, with a great sense of timing and occasion -  on our mother's birthday! He had a very tough time at the end but he was insistent that he stayed at home.  His wishes were for any donations in lieu of floral tributes should go to the RNLI to support his father's time in the Trinity Pilots in Gravesend, so it was always a charity close to the family's heart - along with the fact that Alan never learned how to swim.

Having been an avid chorister all his life - we will be singing outside the church in true Holland style, to celebrate his life on 8th January 2021, at 11.00. The bells shall be ringing - which he and mother put so much effort into restoring with the Friends of Cobham Church. Sadly, during this pandemic - we are limited to a very small guest list and therefore we have set up this page in his memory.

During his life, he studied zoology and biology at Edinburgh and he became a pharmaceuticals marketing manager - selling to the Middle East and around the globe for many years and then went on to enjoy entertaining young minds as the Head of Science at Kings Rochester.  A keen competitive gardener and singer throughout his life - he had a wonderful relationship with Elizabeth and with his grandchildren Max and Isobel.

Even in these weird times, we must try to celebrate his extraordinary life.  He was an incredible traditionalist, but he is going to have to cut us some slack, as in these extraordinary times - we must adapt to the circumstances. We will endeavour to record some of the service as we know so many would like to attend.

With our very best wishes, and appreciation for all your support

Duncan Holland and Claire Edwards
