Restore is one of the longest-established and most highly-regarded community rehabilitation services in the UK. Since 1977, we have supported thousands of people to take control of their recovery, develop skills and lead meaningful lives through recovery groups, training and employment coaching.

Story

Hi, thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

For the past 5 years our cricket club have been raising money and awareness for a fantastic Oxfordshire mental health charity - RESTORE.

RESTORE do fabulous work providing innovative community rehabilitation services to anyone with a mental health problem. They have a recovery centre based on Manzil Way just a short walk from our 1st XI pitch. Their support includes:

  • Recovery groups, where people can develop skills & confidence in gardening, woodwork, crafts, customer service & cooking;
  • Two cafes, run by members of the recovery groups, which sell local, fair-trade food & items made in the workshops;
  • Employment coaching;
  • Training for individuals & corporations to recognise if someone is experiencing a mental illness & how to support them;
  • Participation in the sports project "Active Body Healthy Mind";
  • Fundraising & awareness events including the Annual Elder Stubbs Festival in August; and
  • Offering a varied range of volunteering opportunities

RESTORE was chosen after a nomination and election process of the club's members in 2016. During the vote it was recognised that mental health issues can affect us all - it is so common that we can be very confident that some of our members will be directly affected. In recent years there have been numerous high profile cases of depression affecting those at the very top of the game including Marcus Trescothick and Jonathan Trott. The partnership recognises the importance that exercise and team sport can play in ongoing treatment and recovery.

Your donations could have a massive impact on many lives in our city. For example:

  • £5 could buy seeds for gardening recovery groups
  • £25 could fund 1-to-1 coaching to support someone into work
  • £75 could fund carptentry training to benefit 5 members
  • £200 could train someone to support those in mental distress
  • £360 could fund the support of someone at Restore for a year

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
