Story
PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, in 2018 over 1800 young people took their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINEUK. Every £5 raised can help pay for a life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK. Your donations really are lifesaving, thank you.
This is the fourth time I’ve raised money for Papyrus, I wish to thank all my friends who have generously donated and tolerated my asking for money. It’s a late appeal, I’ve been struggling with injuries, and only now am I confident I’ll drag myself round. It won’t be pretty, but it’s such a worthwhile cause.
I have known of four families close to me who have felt the pain of losing a loved one to suicide, all of them were young enough to have been helped by Papyrus. I’ve also worked with many young people who who have suffered from mental health issues, and sadly some of those have attempted to commit suicide.
Suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 50. It’s effect upon those left behind is devastating. Please help me help some families avoid this trauma.
