Story
Let me introduce myself, my name is Richard Georgiou and I have 6 sisters and a brother. My family is complicated so I shall refrain from boring you with all the details. The gist of my request is my little sister Alex has been suffering with severe epilepsy for a few years now. She has been in and out of hospital over the last few years but never gives up. Alex simply refuses to let epilepsy get the upper hand. Alex is a person who has a glass that is always half full and to be honest everyone loves her for it. I admire Alex more and more each day and I wanted to do something that would help people like Alex in the future. Last week during a phone call to my Dad I heard that my little brother Christian, (Alex's twin) has also been having fits and is in now in hospital. If it was possible I'd happily sacrifice my health for them but unfortunately it's not possible. With this in mind I have decided to spend some time and effort in trying to help us humans to understand and treat this terrible desease. Riding my motorbike from England to the Sahara Desert is no mean feat and the risks are quite high but it is something I feel very strongly about. I have decided to donate all the sponsorship money to a charity called British Epilepsy Association (known on Just Giving as Epilepsy Action). This is a charity that researches epilepsy without testing on animals, which is very important to me. I will complete this arduous journey or die trying. I will be leaving England on Sunday the 17th of June 2012 and it will take me a month to complete. I will be reporting my progress on Facebook (Richard Georgiou) and on www.onemanonabike.com. So, please, please, please give generously and let your money help people like my sister Alex and my brother Chris in the future. I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support in donating to this extremely worthy cause. Thank you, Richard.
