Me & My Challenge

I’m a 40-year-old husband, father of three young(ish) children and Lecturer in Human Movement (Sport & PE) at the University of Central Lancashire. I'm on a continual learning journey, about myself, my own body, movement, fitness and life in general! I like a challenge and, having completed my 365day RunStreak challenge in 2015, I am now back at the point of seeking a fresh challenge.

Whilst running for me is as much, if not more, about the freedom to explore different places, challenge my body and give my mind an opportunity to process thoughts or switch off and relax without distraction, I am completing the Brathay 10in10 as not only will it allow me the opportunity and provide a sense of purpose by raising money for a fantastic cause, it will also test my theoretical and practical strengths (both mind and body) to prepare for and successfully run 10 consecutive marathons.

Finding the best ways to look after my body, through running, movement training, appropriate nutrition and tweaking recovery strategies are key parts of the Brathay 10in10 challenge I am relishing. I look forward to gaining and sharing this knowledge and understanding with other runners, the wider running community and beyond.
