A 3,000km Indian adventure in a 7 horsepower glorified lawnmower. 3 lads, no set route, no backup, only guarantees are getting lost and breaking down. Self funded trip by the 3 lads with ALL money raised going to Prostate cancer uk!

The adventure...

"A 3,000km Indian adventure in a 7 horsepower glorified lawnmower. The Rickshaw Run is easily the least sensible thing to do with two weeks.

No set route, no back-up, no way of knowing if you're going to make it. The only certainty is that you will get lost, you will get stuck and you will break down.  

It's just you and your mates in a wholly unsuitable vehicle, traversing the subcontinent enduring whatever crap the road throws at you."

The route...

We fly to Mumbai from the uk on 27th December, then fly onto Cochin for the start line which is on an island in Bolgatty Palace. A bit of training will be needed on how to drive the beast! 

New Year's Day we set off taking a chaotic drive north. Stop off in Goa for some well earned beers! Drive through the Rajasthan Desert. More beers in another palace in the Golden City. Done.

Ah yes, and add in 2,500km of remote rural villages, off-road tracks, the world's most dangerous highways, stunning coastal roads, mountains and a bit of jungle. And cows. Apparently there are lots of cows and monkeys, monkeys who try and steal everything off the rickshaw! 

Things start off in 'God's own Country' Kochi. We will either go straight and take the coastal route or turn right and force our glorified lawnmower up the hills and through tea plantations in the Western Ghats (also home to Planet Earth's greatest concentration of handlebar moustaches). A good game of Rock Paper Scissors will be used if we get lost of which direction to go, what can go wrong? 

Once we get beyond the monster state of Maharashtra it all gets a bit parched what with it being a desert up there. Apparently we will still be finding Rajasthani sand in our arse cracks when we are back home and wishing we were lost back in the rickshaw! 

Two weeks on the road plus test driving means this takes two and a half weeks all in, leaving a bit of leeway for relocating our minds in case we lose it in Goa. 

Rickshaw team 2016/17, how we met... 

Driver Clarky met Boris in 2015 while on a charity banger rally. Clarkys
Prostate banger rally team had horrendous mechanical issues, but Boris and team minions stuck by them through thick and thin and we crossed the line together. Miller works with Clarky and was bang up for the challenge to raise some hard earned cash for charity.
