Mt Blanc Summit · 19 June 2012
Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page for Steven Richardson, Steve Ross and Andrew Croft who are attempting to climb Mt Blanc on 1 September 2012. We have been training hard to be ready for the challenge and we would like to raise some funds for a local charity, Children North East. Mt Blanc is the highest mountain in Western Europe and at 15782ft climbing through the glaciers is not to be taken lightley and the recent deaths following an avalanche demonstrate the risks involved with the challenge. Our thoughts are with the families of the climbers involved.
With one in ten young people in today’s society estimated to be experiencing mental health concerns, we are particularly keen to support a local project that aims to increase young people’s confidence, self worth and self esteem by supporting young people aged 12 – 18 years to access local activities and take up new opportunities. Children North East’s Youth Link project trains young people as peer mentors in order to support other young people who are experiencing difficulties. These difficulties often include; family breakdown, bereavement, bullying, isolation, low confidence, mental health issues, disability etc. One of the ways they support young people is to encourage them to get involved in their community i.e. by attending local groups and activities. Unfortunately the costs of attending such activities is ever increasing and I would like to support this project by fundraising for an Activities Fund to help young people to attend these new groups, take up new opportunities, gain new experiences so that they feel included in their communities. Please help support this by donating what you can. We are paying for the full cost of the trip ourselves so every penny of what you give will go to the charity.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
