Those of you that know me will understand that I consider it a minor triumph to complete the walk from my Lazy Boy chair to the TV. With that in mind, it may surprise you to know that I've decided to attempt an ascent of Machu Picchu, in the depths of Peru. The trek will take place across 4 days at high altitude, taking in around 50km. It will involve camping. There will be no mini-bar and no room service. The term "fish out of water" probably doesn't even come close.

All that said, I wanted to use the trip as an opportunity to raise some money for a charity that is very close to my family and I. The Hertfordshire MS Therapy Centre provides therapy to those suffering with Multiple Sclerosis, and the support they offer makes a real difference to those living with the illness.

Any amount that you would like to donate would be hugely appreciated, and I know it will provide me with the added determination to complete the trek when the doubts start creeping in and the first blister starts to form after the first 0.1km!
