Hi everyone,

I'm cycling from Holland to the UK in May! (Spijkenisse -> Trowbridge). I was born there and lived there 22 years, but moved to the UK and married Julia and spend the last 10 years here.

Back in the day I used to mountainbike a lot with my dad and friends, weekends away, Sundays dedicated to just cycling and spending time together. Drinking beers and having barbeques after our sauna sessions. We had an amazing time!

Story behind this charity ride is:
My dad passed away in 2015 at 55 years of age due to a rare form of dementia combined with stomach cancer.
My dad was supposed to turn 60 on August 29th in 2020 and I was meant to do the cycle challenge then. (got cancelled due to COVID-19). In honour of his memory I'm doing this cycle route on his old mountainbike to raise money and awareness for FTD research this year.

I have decided not to go via Calais/Dunkirk to Dover, but to go via Dieppe to Newhaven to cut out London. (Le Havre wasn't an option, fully booked!)
This will mean a more beautiful ride past the Belgian and French coast.

I will ride from campsite to campsite, to recharge everything (including myself) and will then get back on the bike in the morning with thanks to Ronald who will support me with a caravan and food!

I hope to complete this all in 6 days starting on May 1st!
