Story
I like triathlon, so in 2017 I did a IM 70.3 in Weymouth and talked about it incessantly. Now I'm stepping up and facing the full 140.6 mile course in Bolton, but instead of bikes and shoes, I wanna talk about mental health.
We all have it. It's a vital part of what makes us, us; and sometimes we find ourselves not in a great place. Historically, we didn't talk about it, shunned it, and – particularly amongst us men – treated it as a weakness.
It shouldn't be suppressed like this. It doesn't have to be tackled alone. Talk to someone – be that a family member, friend, or the amazing folks at Mind. You're never alone!
I'll be sporting a daft moustache this November and hopefully it sparks at least one conversation that helps us talk more about mental health. Training for this stupidly long event starts about now too, so any time you see someone out running or cycling, think of it as a gentle reminder to check on a pal.
It's okay not to be okay, you will always be enough.
