Story
I will be running the London Marathon this April in order to raise money for Cardiovascular Research at the University of Bristol. The Uni's research is at the top of their field: they pioneered off-pump coronary artery by-pass surgery, they pioneered the use of stem cells to regenerate defective cardiac and casual tissues, they’ve developed the world’s first analogue pacemaker that mimics the natural rhythm of the heart, and they may have just developed the first new high blood pressure medicine for 20 years.
Bristol Cardiovascular (BCV) has an international reputation for cutting edge research that has been put into practice. The rare combination of experience at BCV has led the British Heart Foundation to pledge £2 million to create a new training programme for 12 PhD studentships, provided we demonstrate our commitment by funding an additional four.
