I've worked at Posse now for almost 10 years and I can't be more proud to be part of this organization. Posse stands for everything I believe in for our future, especially now during this health crisis and when we so need new leaders.
Posse started in 1989 because of one student who said he never would have dropped out of college if he had his Posse with him. That simple idea, of sending a team (a posse) of students together to college, became the spark for a program that has sent almost 10,000 students to college. These students have won $1.5 billion in scholarships from Posse's partner colleges and graduate at a rate of 90%! Posse operates out of 10 cities and also has a special program for post 9/11 US Veterans.
As the head of fundraising for Posse, May is always a busy time for me as I plan our annual gala, but back in March when New York City began to shut down, we realized we had to cancel the event for obvious reasons. However soon as we realized we could not have an event with 500 people, we decided to have a 'virtual' gala instead and it's GOING TO HAPPEN THIS WEDNESDAY 5/20/20! So if you are free that evening please tune in here at 6pm: https://www.possefoundation.org/news-and-events/posses-annual-gala-1
Normally tickets start at $1,000 and tables start at $25,000 but this year we're inviting everyone to come to the gala and simply make a donation, if people can to help us continue our work. The theme of the gala this year is "Something to Celebrate" and given all the challenges we're facing, we thought it would feel great to share hope and optimism and simply something to celebrate.
