Christmas on The South Downs Way · 22 December 2017

Children on the Edge is a child rights organisation that supports some of the world’s most marginalised children, living in the toughest situations, including war zones, refugee crises and slums in Bangladesh, India, Uganda, Myanmar, and Lebanon.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have been deeply moved by the plight of Syrian refugees, also those leaving Africa for a better life in Europe only to find themselves exploited and homeless, stuck in dreadful situations and this is who I am raising money for.

I wanted to do something different at Christmas which would have meaning for me and for others in the wider world. Walking the South Downs Way is a constructive challenge for me and perhaps you might join me for a few hours.

It is hard to know what to do to make  a difference.

For several years I have donated to Children on the Edge which is a small charity based in Chichester. They do excellent work with children  on the margins of their society, and also empower those around the children to help themselves.

I like this particular charity because funds are not wasted on slick offices or bureaucracy. All donations go straight to those most needing it. You can find out more on their website at www.childrenontheedge.org

My walk begins on Friday 22nd December from Cheese Foot Head near Winchester. I'd love you to join me, the more the merrier. Send me an email or phone.

I will be updating you along the way.

Many friends have generously offered to have me to stay and are fetching and carrying from the SDW. I will post my itinerary nearer the time so that you can join me for a few hours or for a day.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
