Story
Hey lovely friends..... my story.... goes like this......
Last year I planned to do the Great North Swim with Trev, in memory of my Dad who died 15 years ago. He had diabetes and his ashes were scattered in the Lake District, so it was going to be a special event for me and I d trained all year for it.
As some of you know disaster struck when I was doing a triathlon at Dorney Lake in late August. Whilst I was on the bike my carotid artery dissected ...... very nasty .... a bleed in my head!!!!!.... I managed to finish but then was struck down with severe headaches, right sided paralysis and a very dodgy right eye!.....
It took time to diagnose but when it was I taken to the Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre in Haywards Heath...... Here I was looked after by some very talented medics and carers who are literally life savers......... After much persuasion Trev went and swam without me :(...... I remember crying when he sent me beautiful pictures of the boat ride at dawn to the start whilst I lay in excruciating pain with my Mum and Susan by my side........
I am now getting stronger and beginning to regain my former good health...... This would not of been possible without my friends and family, who have been amazing!!!! but also those talented medics and nurses in Hurstwood Park.... So I want to raise £200 for Diabetes UK to honor the memory of my Father and another £200 to honor the carers at Hurstwood Park.
I have been training slowly and systematically so I can swim the mile in Windermere lake ...... Trev and Kay are both going to be with me :)....... Your support would mean the world to me ....... Big big big big big big big big thanks
