At 2 weeks old Ruben was diagnosed with several heart defects, which he would need surgery for immediately to save his life.

He had two open heart surgeries, one catheter procedure, several smaller procedures and an operation on his diaphragm. 

He also developed chylothorax - a condition which isn't very well understood and which took the life of another little baby fighting the same heart defect at the same time.

By raising funds for heart link I want to give just a little something back to say thank you. Our aim is to raise enough money to buy a centrifuge so that treatment for chylothorax can be made more individual while at the same time protecting against infection better. 

 

Its a long way to go but I'm hoping to get there by doing different little fundraisers over the next few months and years! 

Ruben, our heart hero has shown strength beyond measure and he is an inspiration to us all.
