We fund vital research into neuroblastoma to find new and better treatments

Story

On the 20th October 2019, representatives from GSAL Junior School will be pounding the pavements and taking on either the Yorkshire Marathon or 10-miler! Mr Weaver, Mr Shepherd, Miss Morrison and Mr Coleman will be running to celebrate the memory of Alfie Heinz, who was a pupil at the GSAL Junior School. Sadly, this time last year, at the age of 9, Alfie lost his long and hard-fought battle with a rare form of cancer, neuroblastoma.  Alfie was a joyful, fierce and much-loved pupil, who brought a smile and happiness not just to his class or year group but the whole school. The team will be raising money on behalf of Neuroblastoma UK, a national charity who are dedicated to finding a cure and better treatments for this rare, childhood cancer.

This is a huge challenge for most of us (Mr Coleman is an athlete and treats his body like a temple and as such this is a walk in the park for him) - Miss Morrison has not long had a baby; Mr Shepherd is made of glass and falls apart at the 2 mile mark and Mr Weaver is at the point where most men his age are watching The Antiques Roadshow in their pyjamas and slippers. Therefore all donations will be greatly appreciated for a great cause in memory of a great young man.
