We raise money so that every Thornhill child has a rich, creative and enjoyable school experience. The money raised means the school can invest in amazing facilities and experiences for all the children.

Story

Hello you !  .. Great to see you drop by, come, grab a seat..

am Don, Alex's dad and I have hijacked his page to give you some background as to why and invite you to take the Elvis Challenge below.

As a family, we ran Run Thornhill Run in Sep 3021 .. 🏃🏻🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️👶🏻🏅

Alex surprised us all, by running the entire 2K and it was really me that was lagging behind and being dragged by him to the finish line. James who was 1½ then, cheered us along in his pushchair on the first lap (of 3) .. and fell asleep from lap 2. Smart kid.

So we are doing the run - again ?

resounding YES - we are running again, to raise awareness and funds to continue the Enrichment Friday programme that Thornhill Primary School provides.

This is a truly unique thing that does not happen in any other school that I know of; a different sort of teaching engagement - which aims to provide equal access to augmented learning and opportunities; as well as develop ongoing life skills for all the children. But this is not just to enrich the lives of the children attending the school, but to the wider community, building long connections and inclusiveness to everyone.

For more information - check out our Y1 team page

I still remember Alex, in last year’s reception class, performing their little hearts out - in front of the brand new school library / teaching area funded by the Thornhill Foundation, and providing a springboard for curious young minds, nurturing and guiding, helping them to build their futures.

Since the easing of lock down and the restart of Enrichment Friday, I have seen first hand the amazing results in the enthusiasm and engagement of children, supported by the tireless army of volunteers that enables this.

If you are able to donate the price of a coffee or an al deskco lunch - this will be hugely appreciated.

We will be dragging or be dragged by our kids round as best we can, though whilst not aiming for anywhere near any sort of time record – but it will be a new personal best for us.

Come along and support the kids that will be running, cheer their pluckiness or help shake some coins in a bucket at passersby.

An Elvis Tribute - a little less conversation

Hello there again
trouble,

So, you heard a rumour about the Elvis Comeback Special - that he might be putting in an appearance on our Run Thornhill Run on Sunday 3rd July, way down by Highbury Fields?

Well, not quite - Elvis had left the building sometime ago in 1977, sadly that's the way it is but there’s always me - so just pretend that this shorter, stumpier, chubbier version - in blue suede shoes (ish) is the Big E.

So, which Elvis version will I run as ?

- Jailhouse Rock
- GI Blues
- Blue Hawaii
- Viva Las Vegas

Whichever one - well, bang goes my street cred, any kudos & my kids will shame me from this day forth - there goes my everything!

I hope that this is not too much to ask, but I can dream that if we raise our team's £1K target, its a big hunk of love for the kids.

Don't be cruel, as I know you don't have a wooden heart, so if you are not able to donate that's all right, but come along, bring the kids, your little sister, parents, neighbours, pets, hound, dog to cheer on our plucky kids and see my boy drag along porky Elvis for 3 laps.

Come on everybody - it’s now or never.

The Elvis Challenge

Eagle eyed may recognise hidden Elvis song titles in the tribute update above

So, if you donate to anyone on our team http://www.justgiving.com/team/lunadawn and comment with answers to:

 1. Which Elvis I will run as and
 2. How many Elvis song titles are here

I will match the donation of the first correct answer.
