I have decided to run the London marathon to challenge myself and to have a specific goal to train for. A marathon might come as a surprise to anyone who knows my running history (I walked cross country any chance I got), but there is a reason behind this seemingly random decision. I recently had a conversation with a woman who was unfortunately involved in a car accident, leaving her unable to walk un-aided. I spent a lot of time talking to this woman over the week I spent with her and multiple time she expressed her regret of not fully living her life in her years before the accident. I have decided to do the unexpected because I don't want to regret not taking every opportunity whilst I am healthy and able to do. The reason I then chose to do the marathon is that the people in my life who have done marathons before have really inspired me.

ActionAid is a leading international charity which does life changing work across Africa, Asia and Latin America, providing immediate hands on support to woman and girls living in the margins of survival. To give an indication of what your donation could do: £50 could provide a temporary shelter for a family who have lost their home in Nepal, £600 could provide over 200 families with mosquito nets to protect them from malaria in Mozambique, £70 could pay for a school uniform and materials for 10 children orphaned by AIDS in Cambodia. Even the smallest donation makes a difference to these people's lives.
