Story
From those who know me, they know I am no runner, especially not a marathon runner. I much prefer staying in the warmth of my own home or perhaps a few drinks with friends. However, this is all about to change…
Matty died in 2011 aged 11 from a very rare form of cancer, within 7 months of diagnosis he sadly passed away peacefully surrounded by people who loved him dearly. He is missed everyday by family and friends. To this day I can’t comprehend why or how this happened, he was a cheeky chappy who always managed to put a smile on your face.
Whilst Matty was going through his treatment he was the bravest person I know and it will be this that keeps me going whilst training and on the marathon.
I am fund raising for Be Child Cancer Aware. This charity aim's to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of children's cancer. It aims to raise the profile of childhood cancer which is so outrageously under funded here in the UK. It also co ordinates the beads of courage programme for young people in the UK who are enduring treatment for cancer, to show support for them and to acknowledge their bravery in facing this vile, evil disease
Please dig deep and donate as much as you can for this great charity.
