Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
More than 36,000 men, women and children in the UK have a diagnosed bleeding disorder, and the number rises every year. Our youngest daughter Ella is one of those 36,000 as she suffers with a rare and severe bleeding disorder, Type 3 Von Willebrand's Disease. To mark this number and raise awareness of rare bleeding disorders and also funds to help ensure every person living with a bleeding disorder is supported, The Haemophilia Society has launched the 36 challenge. It wants us to come up with a virtual challenge based on the number 36 (or 3.6 or any variation of it).
We are each planning to run 36km in the space of 36 hours, broken down into 2 or 3 runs each, within the set time (we are unsure of the exact distances of each of the runs but will ensure the total for each of us reaches the 36km within the 36 hour timeframe). Leah and Ella will both be covering 3.6km of walking in that time too.
World Haemophilia Day is 17th April 2021 (four days before Ella's third birthday!) so we are looking to run the event from 6am on Saturday 17th April until 6pm on Sunday 18th April.
If anybody would like to be a part of team Running Red, go out during those 36 hours, cover any distance you can which involves a 3 and a 6 and share to raise awareness of bleeding disorders.
We will be wearing red to support the charity - this is optional of course but it was great to see all the red themed photos from the last virtual event we arranged.
