Story
It's with a huge amount of disappointment that I've had to pull out of Sunday's London marathon. Unfortunately I have badly damaged some ligaments in my hip meaning that despite intensive physiotherapy over the last couple of weeks, I would be unable to make the distance.
I really am gutted by this, and have left it to the last minute to make the decision as it means the last few months training have gone to waste! I've also got over £1.5k in sponsorship (either already given or pledged) riding on this.
All is not lost however,…..
….in order to earn your sponsorship I'm pledging to (hip allowing) :
Run (hip allowing) a marathon sometime towards the end of this year. This is most likely to be the Snowdonia Marathon at the end of October (yep that is right up/round the mountain!)
Do the London Marathon next year (place already agreed!)
I'm also hoping to:
Do the London Triathlon in August
The Manchester 10k in June
The Nottingham 1/2 marathon in September
Plus a couple of other things
If you want to have your money back then just give me a shout and I will sort it out for you. Otherwise, cheers and I promise that I will get my injury prone body around a 26.2 mile course very soon.
Cheers
Chris
WHY I'M RAISING MONEY:
Hi,
Thanks for visiting my page!
On 23rd April I'll be running, walking and most probably crawling the 26.2 miles that makes up the London Marathon course.
'Why?', I hear you cry....well apart from the fact I'm not fit enough to jog the whole thing(!) - I'm doing it to raise money for Cancer Research UK in memory of my wife Nicky.
For those who don't know, Nicky died aged 39 in July '02 after battling with breast cancer. She put up an amazing fight and never gave up believing that she could win despite massive odds against her.
So, if she can battle that hard, then I can drag myself round the marathon. I'm raising money for Cancer Research UK as I want to do all I can to ensure that in future, people can beat cancer for good. I'm also doing it for my step daughter Rachael, and for my daughter Millie as I want the future for them to be as great as possible.
So please sponsor me now. Whether it's £1 or £100 it all helps.
Many thanks for your support.
Chris
Note: Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
