The story of Betsi's original page..

Please help us raise £50,000 for Tree of Hope to help fund SDR, a life changing spinal operation to help Betsi walk.

SDR is NOT available on the NHS at present

Text BETS80 £10 or £5 to 70070 to donate instantly

Im doing this for Betsi and this is her story from her parents Sion and Sarah.

We are a family from Pen-y-Ffordd near Chester and throughout the year with the help of our family and friends we will be organising many fundraising events to raise £50,000 so that Betsi will be able to have SDR, a life changing operation which will hopefully help her stand independently, sit up and walk - the things we all take for granted.

Betsi is a very happy and cheeky little 3 year old girl who never fails to make us smile.

Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) is a life changing complex spinal operation, the only surgical procedure that permanently reduces or eliminates stiffness and spasticity in the legs.

Spasticity causes a lot of pain, and over time, shortening of muscles and tendons, joints contractures and bone deformities.

This is not a cure for Cerebral Palsy but without the spasticity, Betsi will be given the chance to improve her range of movements and, with intensive physiotherapy, strengthen her muscles, hopefully giving her the opportunity to walk.

The money raised will pay for surgery, prolonged intensive post op physiotherapy rehab and equipment to build a mini home gym.
If Betsi is not a suitable candidate for SDR the money will be used for intensive blocks of physiotherapy and equipment to support her.

We will be fundraising through Tree of Hope, a registered charity (no.1043092)

Tree of Hope will securely hold all of Betsi's funds and pay for all invoices directly.

We would be eternally grateful for any support you would be able to offer in helping Betsi reach her fundraising target.

Every bit of help, whether large or small, will take us one step closer to getting the surgery our daughter so desperately needs.

If you would like any further information or would like to join us with the fundraising, please don't hesitate to contact me via my email: s.barlow80@googlemail.com
