Story

Children with Cancer UK

Sammy Jo Brandon Foundation

The smile that lit a room the soul that lit our life’s Our beautiful friend Sammy.

Sammy Jo Brandon lost her battle with triple negative breast cancer at the age of 29.
8/8/88 - 14/5/18

In February 2018 Sammy and her family received the devastating news that the cancer had returned to her brain and lungs and she only had weeks to live. Over them following weeks Sammy put plans in place involving creating memories with family and friends and bravely her funeral.

Sammy Jo had always wanted Children of her own and would get upset that children were battling cancer like herself and the horrible effects that came with the treatment.
Sammy wanted money to be raised at her funeral and she said all the money raised must go to Children with Cancer Uk.

£6485 was raised at Sammy’s funeral and handed to Children with Cancer.

Before Sammy past away, Sammy arranged a dinner with her friends at Alec’s restaurant. I remember walking into the room all pink with photos of us all and thinking what a women that’s unimaginable strength. Sammy smiled all night sharing stories and funny memories with everyone from over the years. That night I said goodbye to Sammy knowing that could be the last bye and yes it was 4 weeks later Sammy joined the angels.

After Sammy’s funeral her family set up the Sammy Jo Brandon foundation in memory of Sammy and for all money raised to be donated to Children with Cancer UK.

What an amazing job they have done so far!
I then was invited to the Pride of Britain 2018
going to the event was a dream come true and a true honour. While I was there listening to all the courageous inspiring people Sammy was on my mind. I looked at the invite infront of me on the table and the logo was an angel...yes I believe in signs from above I had worn an angel pin to Sammy’s funeral then the life time achievement award was announced and the winner was Eddie O’Gorman the founder and chairmen of Children with Cancer UK.

What a man a charity that was started in a small flat in memory of his two children now raising over £230 million.

So what can I do to help I thought. I spoke with Children with Cancer UK and the Sammy Jo Brandon foundation team and was offered a place in the London marathon 2019!
Yes I’m nervous I’m not a runner however this is for all the children suffering with cancer there families and Sammy.

Please let’s all get together and raise as much as we can for an amazing cause.

P.S If you see me running the streets of Essex make sure you bib as loud as you can it might get me an extra mile ha ha.

Lots of love Saffron

Sammy a beautiful women with a heart of gold and an infectious laugh that nobody would forget love and miss you always.
