On 12th June 2017 the amazing Charley Findlay sadly lost her battle with cancer. She was aged just 29 and passed away a mere 10 days after her wedding.
Anyone who knew Charley knows her famous fighting spirit and her ever present smile even through the pain.
The now famous hashtag #bemorecharley inspires all of us to live each day that bit more, and with that in mind back in June I applied to be on the Maggies Centres London Marathon team for 2018.
Thursday 12th October I got the phone call to say Charley's story resonated with them, she spent time at their centre in Newcastle and I was offered a place on their team to run in Charley's memory.
So please dig deep for an amazing cause in honour of the most incredible lady, three grand is the target, 26.2 miles is the challenge but that's nothing compared to what Charley had to face so, if you see me out there training give me a wave and I'll keep you updated with how the next 6 months training and fundraising goes!
*****Update*****
Maggie’s have kindly given me and Johnny free places on the Big Half in London on Sunday 4th March. Starting on tower bridge I’ll be dragging Johnny round the streets of London for 13.1 miles with me. So if you fancy sponsoring him for putting up with my training and taking on the half marathon with me please dig deep.
Maggie's offers free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends. With a centre now on our doorstep in Oldham plus the support they gave Charley and her family earlier this year it is the most worthwhile of causes.
