Story

In April 2026 I will be taking on the challenge of running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for Stand-by-me. They are a bereavement charity in North Hertfordshire who have been helping people for over 10 years. They offer not only information but support to children and young adults as well as families who are suffering with the loss of a loved one.

I have chosen to run for Stand-by-me, as I lost 2 grandparents during my teenage years which affected me deeply, during an already stressful time with school/exams and major life choices on the horizon. During this time I attended a session with Stand-by-me who gave me the support and information to help me cope during this time. Which also allowed me to see that I wasn't alone during this time and that there were others going through similar experiences.

Furthermore, with my mum working in the charity I have the opportunity to see and hear about the work that they do on a daily basis and just how many young peoples lives they are changing for the better. Ensuring that they get the help and information they need to try and best cope with the loss of a loved one, so that no one has to go through grief alone.

Any donations raised by this run will allow the trained team at Stand-by-me to run more group sessions as well as one-to-one support both online/over the phone and in person. As well as helping them to work directly with local schools to ensure that children of all ages are getting the help they need during a time where they need it most.

This run will be a big challenge for me, however it is one I am extremely motivated to complete, to show people that there is help out there for you and you don't have to suffer alone.

Thank you for all your support!
