Story
Every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported, especially when faced with the death of someone close to them. At Stand-by-me Bereavement Support, we are dedicated to helping children, young people, and their families in North Hertfordshire and Stevenage navigate the complex journey of grief.
Why We Exist
Bereavement can be a lonely and overwhelming experience, particularly for young people. Even when a death is expected, knowing how to help children process their emotions is challenging. That’s why Stand-by-me exists: to provide a safe space, expert guidance, and a community of understanding for those facing the unimaginable.
The Difference We Make
“Talking about their brother really helped them, and it helped me. I realised that if they could smile and remember the good times, I could too.”
– Parent
“I wanted to become a Young Ambassador as Stand-by-me has helped me so much. I want to help them and young children who have been through an experience just like me.”
– Young Ambassador
Children like Jack, Mia, and Hugo have shown incredible resilience, learning to remember their loved ones with smiles, not just tears.
Why We Need Your Support
Our work is only possible thanks to the generosity of people like you. Every donation helps us reach more children and families, train more volunteers, and develop new resources so that no young person has to grieve alone. Your contribution will help us continue to provide vital support, from group sessions to school programmes, and ensure that every child can find hope and healing after loss.
