We raise funds for new research for to pioneering children's cancer treatments

Story

I created this page because of my cousin Glen, who was 18 months old when he was diagnosed with leukemia back in the 60s. He died in 1971 when he was 6, and I was 10. He was my shadow, and he was my best friend.

Whilst he was in hospital, I taught him to read. I also found out after he died that one thing he always wanted to do was ride the school bus with me to school, but he did not get that chance. I remember how poorly he got, how the fight drained him and how difficult it was for him to be a kid.

During the times he was well enough to be out of hospital, these were wonderful times full of advneture. We use to play need the stump of a tree in my grandparents yard, that was the help of a ship or a lookout to see what was coming down the road. We had a lot of fun, and we both had imaginations that would go on forever.

When he died, I guess part of me did too. I miss him to this day, and wonder what he would think of the world. And what would he think about where life has taken me. And I wish he were here to see my girls and the imaginations they have, I rather think they have some of him in them!

Dewi the Dragon got his start in a project with students at a school in Arizona, who I helped with Welsh history. Dewi has been on a tour of Southern Califronia to help create a book for a children's hospital, so that the children who are in-patients or having treatment.

Now we (Dewi and I) have decided to expand his adventures to raise funds, but also to create a book for treatment centres, so children can lose thierselves for just a little bit. My goal is to be able to create stories that can be tailored to specific children so that they have something of their very own, but for now we want to create something for all children to enjoy.

Please join me whilst Dewi and I create a fantasy world free of cancer and treatments and hospitals, while your donations help doctors, scientists and parents treat, research and support children who are suffering from this terrible disease.

Thank you
