Story
Thank you for taking the time to read Alice's story (Team Teddy) :) After hearing abut the fantastic support her family have received from Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association, I just had to have them as my chosen charity. Alice ran last year (she's bloody amazing) and since then has inspired friends and family to join and support 'Team Teddy'.
Team Teddy
Andrew and I don't talk about our children on social media so it may be a surprise to know that we have two little boys, Alfie and Edward (Teddy).
We had a "normal" pregnancy and welcomed Edward into our family in January 2017. However when he was 3 weeks old, he was very ill and was diagnosed with Trisomy 21, more commonly known as Down Syndrome.
We love our Teddy and he makes us immensely happy. Both Andrew and I are proud to call him our son.
We have received a lot of support along the way, from some wonderful family and friends and from some amazing people at the Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association. The support they have provided, in the form of friendship and practicalities over the last year has meant the world to us.
Edward has been able to access services such as the Early Intervention Groups which is enabling him to achieve his full potential, and his nursery have been able to access training and support to learn more about how to support him to learn.
This charity is fully reliant on kind donations and so needs major funding! So, some of our amazing friends and family have offered to run the Great South Run 10 miles to raise money as Team Teddy for Portsmouth Down Syndrome Association.
Thank you for reading,
Alice and Andrew.
