A group of close friends and family will embark on a challenge of a life time in July 2018. The London to Paris bike ride will see us take on and cover 330 miles! The reason behind the event is to raise awareness and money for Teenage Cancer Trust. In loving memory of my step son Oliver Armstrong.
Ollie Armstrong was an intelligent and quick witted funny lad with a fantastic sense of humour. He was very friendly and loved by all, nobody ever had a bad word to say about him. He was an out-and-out sportsman and enjoyed a variety of sports. His favourite was playing position No 9 for Carlisle RUFC.
For those of you who were lucky enough to know Ollie personally you will no doubt agree he was a man of few words. However, when he did have something to say he
would never fail to make you laugh and put a smile on your face.
Ollie very much enjoyed studying Law at Northumbria University. Sadly he wasn’t able to complete his degree. At the same time as trying to study and sit exams, unfortunately he was receiving treatment at the Freeman Hospital for a rare form of bone cancer namely Ewing’s Sarcoma. He bravely without complaint battled with this for 2 years before sadly passing away in April this year aged just 21 years.
Words cannot describe the void this has left in our family and friends lives and understandably everyone is deeply saddened by his loss.
Teenage Cancer Trust have helped and supported us as a family and we will always be very thankful to them, along with all the doctors, nurses, consultants that tried their best to save him. Oliver was a treasure and a true credit to his Mum, Dad and brothers Charles, Harry and Max xxx
We have a few planned fund raising events coming up and details of which will follow. Look forward to seeing lots of friends, family and local businesses there to show their support. Training is well underway and everyone who is taking part in the event is 100% committed and dedicated!
Could we please ask you to sponsor us for this great cause. No matter how big or small all donations are greatly appreciated.
Many thanks - xxx
