Myeloma is an incurable blood cancer originating in the bone marrow.. Approximately 5,700 people are diagnosed every year in the UK making it the second most common form of blood cancer.
Treatments for myeloma can be very effective at controlling the disease, reducing symptoms and improving quality of life but at present there is no cure. Improvements to treatments over the last decade have meant that survival rates are increasing at the fastest rate among all cancer types in the UK. A lot of this is thanks to generous donations that can fund research and raise awareness of the disease.
