Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. It will be just 18 months from starting the Couch to 5K to running the London Marathon.  August 2016 I decided I needed to do something to aid my slimming world journey and get me more active.  I downloaded the C25K app and thought it would be something Corey and I could do together.  I started this at the beginning of September and nine weeks took me to the beginning of December.  I gave myself until Christmas to complete the programme - allowing to re-do a couple of weeks if I struggled.  Sadly Corey did not get the running bug, but I certainly did!!  I enjoyed every session of C25K and finished bang on schedule without having to re-do any weeks.  To say I was extremely proud of myself is an understatement!!

With the encouragement of friends I did my first Parkrun on Christmas day!  I have rarely missed Parkrun and love every aspect of this event.  To give something back I am part of the core volunteer team for the Junior Parkrun on a Sunday morning.  Around Easter I joined the amazing Saints and Sinners running club.  Here I have made great friends and through doing some of the West Sussex Fun Run races and other events I have the belief that I am a runner!!

The furthest distance I had reached was 10K so the next challenge I set myself was the Brighton Half Marathon in February.  Then the crazy idea of running the full marathon in London was planted in my head!!  Running these for St Catherine's Hospice is the icing on the cake, we as a family are indebted to them for the care and support they gave to my lovely Mum.  I know with all the support around me I will be in the very best position to achieve this dream on race day.  Every bit of pain I go through will be nothing compared to all those patients currently under the care of the hospice and it will be the thought of them and my Mum that keeps me going!

Thank you for reading my story, I am fundraising for St Catherine’s Hospice in Crawley; a local charity with big ambition. St Catherine’s vision is for a world where everyone facing death and bereavement can do so informed, supported and pain free. Their team of experts are there for people in West Sussex and East Surrey when they need support the most, and they rely on donations to be able to offer their pioneering care. Please donate today and help St Catherine’s be there for people when life comes full circle.
