Story
I’m 50 this year and wanted to challenge myself whilst raising money for Stick n Step. My best friend’s nephew, Oscar, has been attending Stick n Step sessions for the last few years and it’s been wonderful to see what a difference the sessions have made to his mobility. He’s full of confidence and very determined. I want to raise money so that more children like Oscar have the same opportunities.
I love running, being outside and having time to myself, so a running challenge seemed obvious. I also wanted a challenge that would take me through most of my 50th year. I’ve booked 10 10k races in under 10 months.
At Stick 'n' Step they support 99 children and young people with cerebral palsy who come for weekly sessions of group conductive education. They enable and inspire each individual child to reach their full potential by providing conductive education, a combination of holistic therapies enhancing their physical, social and emotional wellbeing. Stick 'n' Step provide children with opportunities to take on challenges that may have been out of their reach beforehand, encouraging them to become more mobile, more confident and more independent.
