SimplyHealth Great North Run 2018 · 9 September 2018 ·
10 years ago our son, Oliver, suffered a brain injury when he was two days old. He survived but was left with catastrophic damage which caused sight loss (he is registered blind), cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and learning difficulties. He needs specialist care daily and a very special education. We are so lucky that he is a pupil at Percy Hedley School. The school have focused tirelessly on helping him to achieve his potential in every aspect of his education and physical development. This is a school which goes above and beyond for its pupils and that comes at a cost. We are fundraising to help the school provide all of the extras which are required to make this an outstanding environment for the pupils. We would like part of the money to be used to support children with a visual impairment at the school. This might be the purchase of equipment, or providing training for members of staff to enable them to help pupils as best they can. 80% of everything we first learn is through vision, add to that any other disabilities and life can be very challenging indeed. We hope that by raising funds we can help make things a little easier for those suffering sight loss.
Any money you can donate will go to helping the pupils of Percy Hedley, many of whom have had the worst starts in life. Together we can help make their futures brighter. Thank you for anything you can give.
